Last month we opened our doors to evening shoppers for an August Bank Holiday event with music, food, drink stalls and activities for all.

Regular traders, local business owners and independent retailers set up stalls until 7pm on Friday and Saturday for the ‘Bank Holiday Bash’.

Councillor Paul Cox attended and said:

‘It was fantastic to see the market full of people enjoying themselves and browsing at the Bank Holiday evening shopping event.

‘Feedback from traders and public has been positive, with people already asking us when the next one will be!

‘Accrington Market is the heart of Hyndburn.

‘And after a difficult couple of years it’s great to see our community supporting local small businesses and enjoying the magnificent Victorian building.’

A space for our community

Market manager Sameena King echoed Cllr. Cox’s sentiments, saying:

‘We’re already planning our next evening opening event after receiving such great feedback on the Bank Holiday Bash.

‘Our market is more than shops – it’s a space for our community to come together and enjoy.

‘I’d like to thank everyone who attended – and we hope to see everyone shopping here during regular hours too.’

Pop up stall opportunities for small businesses

Applications are already being accepted from small businesses for the next evening shopping event – email:

Pop up stalls have already proved successful for local businesses over the Summer.

From bath bombs to baked goods, several small traders tried a pop-up stall at Accrington’s historic market hall.

So join in and see if we can make the next event later in the year even bigger than the Bank Holiday Bash.

There are even a small number of permanent units available to rent too!
